What customers say?

“ Food was delicious, portion was good with two scones, four sandwiches and three pieces of cakes/tarts for each person. They also let you choose more than one type of tea so we picked several to try. Overall it’s better than expected, scones were buttery, other items were also nice. The tea house itself is pretty small though with a side staircase entry through the bakery downstairs. We were able to get a table several days ahead. ”

“ Our delightful afternoon tea at the Tea House from Bread Ahead was a true pleasure. The welcoming sparkling tea set a positive tone, and the bridge rolls were a delicious start. Every sweet and scone was meticulously prepared, with a special mention for the outstanding scones. However, what truly elevated our experience was the exceptional service from Lily. Her friendliness, attentiveness, and cheerful demeanor, complemented by a beautiful smile, made our time there extra enjoyable. The female chef (sorry we didn’t get your name) also contributed to the overall charm with lovely creations. It's moments like these that turn a tea outing into a memorable and delightful experience. ”

“ Delicious afternoon tea! I came here on a Sunday with friends and had a wonderful experience. The food (and tea selection!) were amazing. My favourite were the scones that were served warm and fresh. Whilst the downstairs section is busy, the upstairs tea house was a completely different, relaxing atmosphere. The staff, both Lisa and Lilliana were exceptionally attentive and even provided me a box to take home the last few treats I couldn’t finish! 10/10 recommend. ”

“ What an amazing experience! Decided to give afternoon tea a shot during our London trip and I can totally recommend this place. Right above a busy bakery, this is a peaceful and quiet space with a very pleasant atmosphere. All the food we got was delicious and the staff were great as well. Plus, in the context of other afternoon tea places in London, the price is totally fair. Really happy with our visit and would come again during a next trip, as they also seem to change up the menu based on the season. ”

“ Had the most wonderful afternoon tea at Bread Ahead in Chelsea! It was the launch day and we were treated to delicious home made delicatessen: not your usual sandwiches but beautiful brioches with tasty fillings and the most amazing cakes! The presentation and service was impeccable and, cherry on the cake (excuse the pan) was the gorgeous Debbie Wingham's life-size cake in the shape of a stunning lady draped in flowers, to celebrate the event and the Chelsea Flower Show. Simply spectacular! ”

“ FOOD: The Tea House from Bread Ahead delivers a delightful journey through classic British afternoon tea. The menu, emphasizing seasonality and traditional bakes, reflects the commitment to placing flavour and quality ingredients at the forefront. The bridge rolls showcase a harmonious blend of textures and flavours. The British cakes, from the zesty Lemon & Yuzu Roulade to the rich Bakewell Tart, demonstrate culinary expertise. The scones, served warm with alongside Jam and Cornish clotted cream, are a highlight, perfectly embodying the essence of a traditional afternoon tea. ENVIRONMENT: The Tea House is a welcoming and elegant space located upstairs at the Pavilion Road bakery. The dining room, overlooking the dedicated pastry kitchen, creates a charming atmosphere. The thoughtful curation of decor reflects a love for British tradition with a contemporary and creative twist. The transition from a bakery school to The Tea House adds a unique touch, providing guests with an inviting environment to indulge in another pastime dear to the hearts of bakers and chefs. The balance between elegance, tradition, and creativity is well executed, creating an ambiance that enhances the overall dining experience. PRICE: While The Tea House may be considered a premium dining experience, the quality and variety of offerings justify the price. The generous feast of sweet and savoury bakes, the selection of high-quality teas and the attention to detail in both food and ambiance contribute to the value for money. The pricing aligns with the upscale nature of the establishment and the exceptional culinary and dining experience provided. The ambiance is cozy, with lovely colors and an open kitchen that adds a special touch to the atmosphere. The food was handmade, and the quality was evident in every bite. Our teas were excellent, perfectly paired with delicious scones and butter with a beautiful, velvety texture.
